Children need nourishing meals all summer long, I hope you’ll consider giving today – and throughout the summer. Today, families in our community are wondering how they’ll replace the free or reduced-priced meals their children depend on in the cafeteria during the school year.
For many children, summer means vacations, camp, fun at the pool and time with friends. However, for other neighborhood kids, summer means one thing: hunger. When school ends, so does access to nutritious meals for many children in our community who participate in the free or reduced breakfast or lunch programs at their schools. Now that school is out, their families need to supply additional meals each day to nourish their children’s growing bodies, which means putting an additional strain on an already-thinning wallet.
By giving to Northern Illinois Food Bank today, you’ll provide vital nourishment for vulnerable children and their families this summer. Won’t you make a generous gift to provide food to our neighbors in need? Remember, every $1 you give helps provide $8 worth of nutritious groceries!
