Serve our hungry neighbors directly by volunteering at one of our programs below.
In order to better serve our hungry neighbors, the Food Bank started a pop-up pantry based out of our Northwest Center in Rockford in 2017. The program grew as word spread, and now averages about 300 families every week.
Each Market needs approximately 15-25 volunteers in order to serve our neighbors most effectively. Available volunteer roles include assisting in registration, handing out food, restocking the food carts, and managing the carts as clients move to and from their cars. Volunteers may sign up as an individual or with a group, and should be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Groups and individuals may register online through our volunteer calendar, or by contacting Molly Speckman – email or call 630-443-6910 ext 211. Please call to register groups of 10 or more volunteers.
The Mobile Pantry is a “traveling food pantry” that delivers meat, produce, non-perishable food and other products to communities where the need for food surpasses the capacity of existing food pantry resources. Volunteers at the Mobile Pantry assist in distributing food to our hungry neighbors.
