PIPESTONE and Hy-Vee team up to benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank through Give a Helping Ham initiative
(Geneva, Ill. – November 15, 2018) – PIPESTONE and Hy-Vee are teaming up on project Give a Helping Ham this November in order to donate pork to Northern Illinois Food Bank and other food banks across the Midwest.
PIPESTONE is a veterinary service and pig management company located out of Sycamore, Illinois that works with independent pig farmers across the Midwest region. Last year the program donated over 82,000 pounds of pork to local food banks.
“There are an astounding number of families in our community that are food insecure. Give a Helping Ham is a simple way to get the Sycamore community involved in giving back and providing families with some nutritious protein that they may not otherwise have,” said Dr. Luke Minion, CEO of Pipestone.
For every ham purchased at the Sycamore Hy-Vee location from November 14-24, PIPESTONE will donate a pound of pork loin to Northern Illinois Food Bank, which supports food pantries and feeding programs in Sycamore and distributes food to feeding programs across 13 Northern Illinois counties.
“We are so grateful for Hy-Vee and PIPESTONE’s partnership for the Give a Helping Ham project,” said Julie Yurko, CEO and President of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “These generous donations will greatly impact the lives of our hungry neighbors throughout Northern Illinois who need help this holiday season.”
Northern Illinois Food Bank leads the Northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships. Since 1983, food manufacturers, local grocers, corporations, foundations, and individuals have come together to donate food and funds, and evaluate and repack food for distribution to more than 900 community food pantries and feeding programs serving more than half a million hungry neighbors every year across 13 counties. That commitment provided nearly 66 million meals to those in need in FY18. Find out how you can Volunteer, Donate and Get Involved at www.SolveHungerToday.org or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
