I volunteer at the Food Bank because…

23/Apr/21 / 11:11

It’s National Volunteer Week, and we’re celebrating ALL of our amazing volunteers who help us solve hunger in Northern Illinois! In the past year alone, our volunteers have donated over 134,000 hours – that comes in the form of packing and sorting food, loading groceries into cars, directing traffic, volunteering at special events, and MUCH more! We could not do what we do without each and every generous volunteer for their big hearts and big help – THANK YOU!

In the spirit of celebration, we asked our volunteers to share why they volunteer at the Food Bank. Here are some of their responses:

I volunteer at the Food Bank because…

“… the need is there, and I like to!”

“… I believe in the cause & love the coworkers!”

“… it feels good to help in such a tangible way.”

“…volunteering makes me happy by doing for others.”

“… the organization is great and does a great service!”

“… it makes me feel good knowing I am helping others. Started in 2009!”

“… fun co-volunteers”

“… I like to be helpful.”

“… it’s very fulfilling! And the people are great!

“…it’s a great place to help hungry neighbors.”

“… good exercise!”

“… it’s fun to work with such a fine team.”

“… it makes me feel good – I’ve been doing this for 15+ years.”

“… while helping our hungry neighbors, I enjoy working with the other volunteers. They are like family!”

“… I really like the people & love making a small but needed difference.”

“… I am lucky enough to be able to help others.”

because… to help end hunger”

THANK YOU to our AMAZING volunteers – we appreciate you, this week and always!
