The Farm to Food Bank Program, coordinated by Feeding Illinois, connects food banks with farms to purchase fruits, vegetables, cheese, milk, meat, and eggs directly from farmers at a lower cost than retail or wholesale.
The Farm to Food Bank Program’s goals include:
- Provide farmers with additional markets for produce
- Expand the supply of fresh food to food banks
- Increase food security
- Reduce food waste
- Keep products, food, and dollars local in Illinois
Created by the Illinois Farm Bureau, these short videos show how the Farm to Food Bank program benefits both farmers and local neighbors served by food banks. Northern Illinois Food Bank’s staff and facilities are featured throughout!
