Northern Illinois Food Bank, United Way Lake County provide more food to Waukegan food pantries

As the Waukegan Public School District 60 strike continues, local food pantries are prepared to provide food to parents challenged with having enough food to provide three meals a day for their children while school is out of session.  United Way of Lake County has partnered with Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide extra food to seven Waukegan food pantries to accommodate this immediate need. Food is provided free-of-charge to families in need in the Waukegan community.


The following food pantries have made special accommodations for families affected by the Waukegan Public School District 60 strike, allowing affected families to visit the pantry as needed:


Community Christian Church Food Pantry

1400 Yorkhouse Road, Waukegan

Open: Tuesdays, 9 a.m. – Noon


St. Anastasia Food Pantry

624 Douglas Avenue, Waukegan

Open: Thursdays, 10 a.m. – Noon


C.O.O.L. Food Pantry EAST

127 W. Water Street, Waukegan

Open:  Mondays, 1 – 5 p.m.

Tuesdays – Fridays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.


Holy Family Food Pantry

912 8th Street, Waukegan

Open: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.


Shiloh Baptist Church Food Pantry

800 S. Genesee St, Waukegan

Open: Saturdays: 10 a.m. – Noon

**Familiescan also receive special food at the soup kitchen on Wednesdays from 4 – 6 p.m.


Catholic Charities Lake Co. Food Pantry 

671 S. Lewis Avenue, Waukegan

Open: Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m. – Noon & 1 – 3 p.m.


El Puente Latino

2415 N. Butrick, Waukegan

Open: Saturdays, 1 – 3 p.m.
