What’s exciting and new at Foodie 5K

02/Mar/18 / 06:00

With the first official day of spring not far away, the fifth annual Foodie 5K will be here before you know it! By now you’ve racked up steps with our couch-to-5K training plan and learned how fundraising for Foodie 5K helps benefit our hungry neighbors – now it’s time to turn your eyes to the starting line. Here’s what you can expect from the day of the race:

A new route at Cantigny Park

Cantigny has been under construction for nearly a year; thanks to these renovations, the route for Foodie 5K will be brand new! Participants will run and walk in the opposite direction from past years, along scenic trails through Cantigny Park and Golf Club. This new route also means that the finish line is no longer uphill, but don’t worry – you’ll still have a fantastic view of all the beautiful scenery Cantigny has to offer!

On-site parking

As an added bonus to the changes being made at Cantigny, the Foodie 5K will now have on-site parking, making the morning of the race easier for participants and volunteers alike.

Post-race Kellogg’s VIP area

Thanks to the generosity of our Foodie VIP sponsor Kellogg’s, participants who fundraise $250 or more can enjoy a fun and interactive VIP area stocked with delicious Kellogg’s snacks. Don’t miss out on this exclusive VIP experience – start fundraising now!

Food trucks galore

After the race, you’ll have plenty of time to visit some of the amazing food trucks serving up delicious snacks and sides! Participants get a $2 voucher to use at a gourmet food truck including Toasty Cheese, The Happy Lobster, Pixie Dogs and The Olive Branch – just to name a few! View the full list serving runners on April 7.

A bag full of swag

Walkers and runners receive all sorts of Foodie 5K swag, including the Foodie 5K shirt and a ticket voucher for the Kane County Cougars, Joliet Slammers or Schaumburg Boomers. If you fundraise $250 or more, you can proudly wear a commemorative 2018 Foodie 5K medal home.
All this awaits you before and after the finish line of the Foodie 5K. We are excited to once again join together as one Foodie 5K team to go the extra mile for our hungry neighbors in Northern Illinois. We hope to see you there!
