Who Is My Food Bank?

Eight Illinois food banks help feed more than 1.4 million hungry Illinois residents each year. That’s one in 10 Illinoisans who need your help to ensure they don’t go hungry.

These nonprofit organizations acquire food through manufacturers, retailers, food drives and the government and distribute that food to thousands of partner feeding organizations – more than 2,000 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and youth and senior centers across Illinois who are the frontlines of feeding our hungry neighbors.  Food banks also purchase food to ensure their network partners always have a consistent supply of nutritious food.  Food banks also rely on volunteers to help sort and repack food, and for office, special event and other support.
